In 2002, Dan founded Discovery Equity Partners, a small-cap M&A opportunity fund. This fund was spun out of Piper Jaffray in 2004. Dan has been working with the team since 2000. From 1997 to 2002, he was a managing director in the middle-market M&A group and directed Piper Jaffray's investment banking activities in Chicago. He was co-head of middle-market M&A from 2000 to 2002. Previously, Dan was an executive vice president with Duff & Phelps, an investment management and research firm. His experience in corporate finance also includes investment banking with William Blair & Company and public accounting with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.
Dan has provided expert testimony before the U.S. Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission. He served a four-year term as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council. Dan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston College and received an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is a CPA (inactive) and CFA.
