Don is our Union Ombudsman, bringing with him 37 years of experience in all aspects of the machinist trade. Prior to engaging with North Sky Capital, Don was most recently the president of the Washington State Machinists Council, a position he held for 14 years. He also served as the chairman of the Automotive Machinists Pension Trust and a trustee for the Western Metal Pension Trust and Northwest IAM Benefit Trust for many years. In 1988 Don was appointed to the Governor’s Industrial Safety & Health Advisory Board, a position he held until 1998. In 1987, Don was also appointed as the full-time business representative for Machinist’s District Lodge #160 and, in 1998, was elected to the business manager position.
Don began his machinist career in 1973 with the Continental Can Company in Olympia, Washington after completing the four-year apprenticeship program to become a maintenance machinist. He served as president of the IAM Local Lodge #695 from 1976 to 1987.
