i3 – Sustainable Infrastructure: The case for middle-market solutions
Minneapolis, MN – Managing Director Adam Bernstein wrote a column on the investment opportunity in middle-market sustainable infrastructure, which was published in Institutional Investing in Infrastructure (i3).
America’s crumbling municipal infrastructure is in need of massive investment and rehabilitation—roads/bridges, drinking water systems, wastewater treatment plants, electricity generation/transmission, landfills, etc. Collectively, we have underinvested in these critical systems for decades such that the American Society of Civil Engineers gave America’s infrastructure a nearly failing grade of D+ in its widely-cited 2017 report. That report recommended $4.6 trillion of infrastructure investment by 2025 merely to upgrade our infrastructure to a B grade of “adequate for now.”
Adam discusses how the middle market is uniquely equipped to address America’s infrastructure problem. Read Adam’s article here, and view our research on opportunity zones and sustainable infrastructure here.
